Kala Patthar (5550 m / 18207 ft) is considered as the best view point of the Mount Everest and is the target of the probably most famous trekking route in Nepal. Kala Patthar appears as a big brown bump below the impressive south face of the PumoRi and offers the most accessible viewpoint of Mount Everestanda 360-degree panorama of peaks including Ama Dablam, Kantenga, Nuptse, Thamserku, Changtse, Lhotse as well as the sandy plain of Gorakshep and the mighty Kumbu Glacier.From far, even the Tengboche Monastery, the focus of Sherpa Buddhist devotion, can be seen. On the way of this trek, we will pass friendly Sherpa villages and Buddhist Monasteries and experience Sherpa culture in Khumjung village.

  • Day 01
    Kathmandu

    Upon arrival in Kathmandu, receive, welcome and transfer to hotel.
    Briefing about the treks in the evening by our guide.
    Rest of the day at leisure.

    Authentic Nepali Welcome Dinner with cultural show.

  • Day 02
    Kathmandu

    After breakfast, sightseeing tours of Swoyambhunath Stupa, said to be one of the oldest Buddhist Stupa in the world.

    Afterwards, visit Patan Durbar Square. The authentic and ancient Royal Palace of Patan faces on to a magnificent Durbar Square. This concentrated mass of temples is perhaps the most visually stunning display of Newari culture, architecture of medieval town.

  • Day 03
    Flight Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding

    Early morning, transfer to domestic airport to board flight to Lukla (2840 m / 9318 ft). Upon arrival set up your baggage and start your first day trek. It is an easy walk down through several villages to Phakding (2652 m / 8701 ft), where you will have your lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 04
    Phakding - Namche Bazzar

    After breakfast we follow the Dhud Kosi River for about 2 hours and climb slowly up a steep trail to Namche Bazar (3440 m / 11286 ft). We stay in the heart of the Namche Village.

  • Day 05
    At Namche for acclimatization

    We enjoy a rest day here to allow for maximum acclimatization. A pleasant day can be spent exploring the village, talking to the Sherpa and simply enjoying and marveling at the incredible mountain scenery including the views of Everest (8848m / 29029 ft), Nuptse (7879m / 25850 ft) and Lhotse (8383m / 27503 ft) – the big three.

  • Day 06
    Namche Bazar - Tengboche

    Today we walk along a very pleasant trail under the soaring peak of Thamserku (6618 m / 21713 ft) and steadily descending to the Phungi Tanga (3250 m / 10636 ft) where there are a series of water driven prayer wheels. Thereafter, we climb steadily for about 2 hours to reach the Tengboche Monastery (3867 m / 12687 ft). The views from Tengboche are magnificent as the Monastery is literally surrounded by mountains. Yaks graze on the small meadow and the monks drone through their prayers. Surely, this is one of the most spiritualspots in the world.

  • Day 07
    Tengboche - Dingboche

    We move up the Imja river valley to Pangboche (3930 m / 12894 ft) and stop here for lunch and a visit the Monastery. In the afternoon, we continue on to the village of Dingboche (4410 m / 14469 ft). The scenery all day is superb.

  • Day 08
    Acclimatization day at Dingboche

    Another rest and acclimatization day at Dingbocheshould give you an excellent chance of ascending Kala Patthar or the Everest Base Camp (ECB).A number of interesting excursionscan be undertaken from the yak herders’ village of Dingboche. A 2 hours walk to the huts at Chhukhung (4730m / 15518 ft) will take you to the glaciers flowing off Nuptse and Lhotse. Alternatively, you can spend your day in an Internet Coffee and enjoy sweets from a German bakery.

  • Day 09
    Dingboche - Lobuche

    We walk up a small ridge and then contour around the base of the Khumbu Glacier. After a light lunch at Dhugla (4620 m / 15157 ft), we master a short steep climb over the Tokla Pass (4830 m / 15846 ft) to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier from where the views are stunning. Overnight, we stay at the foot of the Lobuche Ice Fall in Lobuche (4910 m / 16109 ft).

  • Day 10
    Lobuche - Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp View - Lobuche

    Today, we climb to the top Kala Patthar (5550 m / 18209 ft). The actual distance from Lobuche is not so far but we take it very slowly to compensate for the altitude. At Gorakshep (5140 m / 16864 ft) we stop for a light lunch before the final ascent to Kala Patthar.On the top of Kala Patthar we are surrounded by mighty glaciersand impressive mountains as the Pumo Ri (7165 m / 23507 ft), Lingtren (6749 m / 22142 ft) and Khumbutse (6665 m / 21867 ft) separating us from Tibet. Furthermore, we see Lho La (6026 m / 19770 ft), the huge rock of Changtse (7550 m / 231463 ft) in Tibet,the Everest Base Camp (5363 m / 17595 ft) and finally the queen of all – Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest, 8848 m / 29029 ft). We return to Lobuche for overnight stay.

  • Day 11
    Lobuche - Tengboche

    We retrace our steps along the Khumbu Glacier to Pheriche (4240 m / 13911 ft) and stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we take the trail to Pangboche and Tengboche.

  • Day 12
    Tengboche - Khumjung

    From Tengboche, we descend to the Imja River at Phungi Tanga and gently climb to Khumjung for lunch. Excellent views all the day and overnight at Khumjung (3780 m / 12697 ft).

  • Day 13
    Khumjung - Phakding

    Today, we descendeast of the towering Kongde ridge (6186 m / 20295 ft) through Namche Bazarand follow the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding.

  • Day 14
    Phakding - Lukla

    Trek back to Lukla and overnight.

  • Day 15
    Fly Lukla - Kathmandu

    After early breakfast at our lodge we fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to our hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 16
    Kathmandu

    Free day for your own activities

  • Day 17
    Departure

    Free until departure transfer for onward destination.
